Maria Callejas – PM Program teacher
I came from El Salvador thirty five years ago. Working with children and their families has been one of my passions for the past 21 years. I worked at Gateway Elementary for 5 years as an aide and I also taught Spanish in kindergarten and 1st grade. I then moved to Gateway Preschool where I worked as a teacher for 5 years.
When Coastal Community Preschool was first formed, I was a lead teacher for 6 years. For the next 5 years I worked for the Live Oak School District in the Child Development Programs as a Master Teacher. I assisted the Supervisor with goals and objectives for the program and I assumed the supervisor role when needed.
I Majored in Early Childhood and I hold a Child Development Permit. I am interested in Early Literacy and implementing Spanish as part of the curriculum. I enjoy guiding children through the process of conflict resolution and watching them gain the tools needed to accept, celebrate and settle their differences. I love watching the children’s social emotional development and developing the tools needed to take them to the next level. I value the connections I have with families throughout the years.
During my free time I like to relax, read and especially work out at the local gym. I am excited to be back at CCP and I look forward to a rewarding and successful year!
